We only need 1000 words to speak a new language?!

Day 1 of Serial Visits

So the day finally arrived to go back to school! What an exciting day! After a few weeks of getting bogged down by learning theories, assignments, and the arrival of sprightly young freshers in party mode it was great to get in school and remind myself exactly why I wanted to be a teacher in the first place. It was also really good to see all the things we have been learning about put into practise in the classroom, such as, differentiation, objectives, plenaries and the dreaded smart boards!

other comedy moments/ out of the mouths of babes…

Miss…are you Spanish? look like that girl out of Narnia!

Miss… are you Sir’s girlfriend?

Miss… you look like the one in Mama Mia with the fat face… no I didn’t mean it like that.

A few weeks in…

So I’ve made it through the first few weeks of my PGCE course. What fun it has been!!

Met some great people. Got stressed over assignments. Had death by power point. Had an interesting workshop day of vocal coaching and role play. Tried to work out how to use Smart boards. And drank a whole lot of tea!

Hello. I am a blogging novice and this is my first ever post. The main aim of my blog is to give some insight into what it’s like to be a student modern language teacher. The first week of my PGCE Spanish is almost over and the only thing I can compare it to is strapping yourself into a roller coaster car and listening to the safety brief. I’m feeling nervous and excited in equal measures and I know it’s going to be a bumpy ride, but it definitely will be worth it in the end!

Join me on the journey!
